Treuddyn YFC has had a very successful year, and we would firstly like to congratulate our club Chairman Gemma Gardner on becoming this year’s County Queen, Gemma has worked hard throughout her time at young farmers and everyone at the club is very happy for her. We would also like to say a big thank you to the Swans for hosting Treuddyn Young Farmers every week at the farm, and to Gail and Clive for all their help and advice.
It doesn’t seem a year has passed since last year’s rally, where Treuddyn won the opportunity to represent Clwyd at the Royal Welsh with a memorable rendition of the Wurzels Combine Harvester, the Welsh Lamb cooking competition and federation display.
We’ve gained some new members during the year all of which are very keen and doing extremely well, with a special mention to Ceri Wilkinson who competed at the Wales Field Day for stockman of the year, and to Lauren Salisbury and Tanwen Crosby for competing at the Wales Public Speaking down in Builth Wells. Congratulations to you all!
As well as all the competing Treuddyn have managed to spare some time to raise some money, firstly we had a table at Llangollen YFC’s fashion show selling cakes, woodwork and Christmas cards. We also raised £160 Carol singing on a very cold December night raising money for the Flintshire Food Bank, and finally we did a sponsored exercise bike ride at the swans farm shop which was 120 miles taking us from the shop to Snowdon.
A full programme of other activities during the year have included interesting talks and demonstrations from the North Wales Police Fire Arms department, sausage making, and a few rounder’s and BBQ nights along with bowling, ice skating and games nights.
If you would like any more information, please contact Gemma or Anwen, everyone’s welcome!
